...and I'm just sitting here with enough time to spare to watch an LP of it, but not the exponentially greater amount of time that would be lost if I got a copy to play.

My introduction to the series was a copy of GTA IV , and I just yearn more and more for GTA V when I see how much you have access to right off the bat - weapons, awesome cars, etc. You had to work for all that in IV , though there weren't that many sports cars that could be had compared to V 's selection. On top of that, I saw a video that showed a car transport truck being used for its intended purpose in V (as opposed to the garbage truck in IV that only worked once, and possibly the tow truck in The Lost and Damned if it ever worked for a mission).

Well, I guess you didn't have to work for everything in IV , given that you could use cheats to spawn boats over civilians and cops to flatten them and grab their cash and weapons.

I know you said IV was your intro, but go look up Vice City and compare it to San Andreas. Five is San Andreas to IV's Vice City. The graphics are about the same (lighting engine is much better, more complex animations), the gameplay is similar but massively more complex with things like character development, customization, etc. The map is massive compared to IV, there's more things to do, there's more options with cars and planes and boats (and bikes, and atv's, and skidoos, and helicopters, and dune buggys, and 18 wheelers, and tow trucks).

Five is amazing, seriously. It's what everyone hoped IV would be, and then some. If you've got time to play it and $60 lying around, you couldn't spend it any better.

I know, it's exactly why I can't stand not throwing my money at the nearest Gamestop for a copy - my studies take priority, and it'd all go out the window if I got hooked on this.
